Understanding Conscious Discipline (Parts 1-9) - Thurston County

Understanding Conscious Discipline - Thurston County

This is a 9-month, 20 STARS hour professional learning community and participants agree to attend monthly (see dates below). This class is for professionals who have considerable experience in the field of early learning and are prepared to reflect and discuss attitudes about, and experiences with, child guidance techniques. Conscious Discipline® is an evidence-based, trauma-informed approach. It is recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices, and received high ratings in a Harvard analysis of the nation’s top 25 social-emotional learning programs. This approach offers skills and strategies that are scientifically backed and can be practically applied in daily life. Content includes information on brain states, becoming a "conscious adult," and building self-regulation, problem-solving skills, and resilience in children. Each session will include dynamic video content from Conscious Discipline® author Becky Bailey, as well as lots of discussion/activities. The cost of this class includes a workbook for each participant and one textbook per facility. Full MERIT reimbursement is available after the first session for those who pay the $200 and have not already received STARS reimbursement for 2019-20 fiscal year. MERIT reimburses up to $250 per fiscal year. For more information on MERIT reimbursement visit MERIT. If you would like to pay month-to-month, please contact Nancy Hobson at 360-786-8907, ext. 100.
